Curlew (Numenius arquata)

After a miserable night of high wind and driving drizzle, this morning was little better. However, we did manage our morning walk dry then headed out to see what we could see. Ended up in Culross with a stiff westerly tearing the cobwebs to shreds and the clouds beginning to break. I took a photo of a rather mean and moody looking Firth of Forth but then this Curlew or "Whaup" in Scots wandered across my lens. They are rather attractive big birds and their cry is so evocative of desolate foreshores and high windswept moorlands.
The afternoon was much brighter, if still a touch breezy, but we did some tidying up in the garden. Then Euan and Ali popped in for a quick visit. He is growning well and can now look out of our front windows without needing to climb up on anything. Another milestone reached.
Well, Friday has arrived yet again and the weekend stretches out before us.
Have a good one wherever you blip.
