My village store is midway through a makeover. This delectable display of local jams, chutneys and biscuits is in the perfect position to catch shoppers attention as they walk by.

A friendly welcome from the shopkeeper and a chat about an upcoming summer performance of Alice in Wonderland in the village barn is what makes buying from a family run local store the foundation of village life.

I purchased local Kent strawberries, which smell so divine and taste delicious, and duck eggs from a local farm. Simply perfect for baking cakes.
