Hestercombe House and Gardens near Taunton have been preserved through an ambitious and effective Trust. The gardens are now restored to their original condition as laid out by Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll. The house - for which there are exciting redevelopment plans - is now used as an exhibition space for UK artists.
