Sulphur Polypore

Our second day at Kedleston Park proved to be a much damper affair. We arrived shortly before eight, after a superb English breakfast, and tramped round pretty much constantly until nearly six, not even stopping for lunch. Grey skies prevailed, and there were a couple of hours of steady rain around lunchtime - consequently I had wet feet all day!

The grasslands in the northern part of the park were a little more diverse, and there were some superb veteran trees, including an old beech that supported the largest quantity of Sulphur Polypore that I've ever seen. We sheltered under it for a while, and the fungal smell was almost overpowering!
