A Closer Look

Since it was too cold for me to go out to play with my camera I stayed inside and played with my microscope instead. My subject was the dead yellow-spotted dragonfly that I blipped last November. It is now very dry. The dof is extremely shallow, which means I can focus only on a very small area.

Shown on the left is a detail of the wing lattice - would you have guessed that the fine lines on the wing would have such spikes? The other image is of an eye. I was interested to see that even though it is dried up and buckled it is still possible to make out the subtle shaded pattern.
