An unexpected journey.
As I have mentioned previously Katkatkat & G are off on "an adventure" at Armathwaite Hall. We got an email asking if we could brings somethings they hadn't planned for and as it isn't far we set off mid afternoon after we had prepped the Lodge.
Having dropped things off we thought the chance of blipping away from our usual haunts was too good to miss. So we made a slight detour to get to the west side of the Lake. I have to call it the west as to me it is the back of the lake but to Clickychick thinks the other side is the back!
As we neared Ouse Bridge there were 4 bow top Vardos with accompanying horses in a little field. They were obviously enroute to Appleby for the Fair week (Gypsy/Traveller/Roma what ever the current PC name for the Fair). As we wandered along to take shots of Ouse Bridge we spotted this scene on the opposite bank.
I almost called this shot "The Apprentice" as the young lad is standing there obviously learning from Dad or perhaps (going by the white hair) Grandad all about getting your horse ready for the fair. The horses being washed in the river at Appleby is a regular sight at the fair. However we have never been prepared to brave the inevitable crowds and parking problems
