Played and Missed
Sometimes it's necessary to bring in another slip.
I don't think I can remember the lads playing better cricket than they did today. Another hundred from Shane to anchor the innings, consolidation in the middle to preserve wickets, Forrest contributing 35 before giving his own wicket away to trigger an explosive finish which saw the team rack up 296 runs. It was the perfect model of a modern 50 over innings. They then bowled superbly to demolish the opposition for 132, Henry, pictured here, bowling with genuine pace and hostility with 3-41 and Alex, bowling with genuine guile, collecting 5-34 with his spin. It was a brilliant game to watch, and played in a great spirit too.
Some of you, sports fans certainly, should recognise my portrait for today, the wicketkeeper for Leeds Modernians, who showed he can still throw himself around with considerable enthusiasm. No one has guessed his identity as I post this!
