Cecil, Cornelius and Leonard

Helped T get packed up ready for his trip to Newcastle. He'll be there for a health and safety course until Thursday. Took him to the station in plenty of time for his train.

Had lunch and then headed out for a local walk. As the weather was looking a bit dubious we decided to visit the cemetery at Cemetery Junction. This is a marvellous oasis of calm sandwiched between two busy roads in Reading. We saw a muntjac deer and a couple of green woodpeckers. There was lots of bird song.

Some of the gravestones tell a tragic tale. This one, describing the loss of three young sons in World War One, was tragic. I can't imagine how a family would cope with such tragedy. I managed to find out a little about Cecil via Free BMD. It looks as if he was born in 1884 and married in 1907. I think he may be buried in Zoave Valley Cemetery in France, April 1917.

Got home in time for a short rest before a spin class. Had a supermarket curry after a much-needed shower.
