Gretna Green.
On the way home from Scotland the coach driver pulled into this Black Smiths Restraint for a lunch stop. This place became a romantic haven for eloping couples in 1754. England's newly tightened marriage law prohibited couples, under the age of 21 from marrying without the approval from their parents. In Scotland it was much easier to marry. Couples began fleeing across the Scottish boarder to marry in the first building they reached which was the famous Blacksmiths shop! When we arrived here a couple was just about to get married so this is my extra plus a scottish piper playing for them. My main photo is the Blacksmiths Shop at Gretna Green.
