Princess Denali Lodge, Cooper Landing, Alaska

Princess Cruise Line has its own lodges in which its guests stay during the land portion of the Alaska Adventure. The accompanying photograph was taken riverside of the river that flows by the Princess Denali Lodge.

Denali, of course, is the tallest mountain in the United States. It was named Mount McKinley until recently. The name was changed from the modern Mount McKinley to the original Native American "Denali."

Many have tried to see the mountain, but it's usually shrouded in fog and clouds. One guide told us that only about 30-percent of visitors actually catch a glimpse of the majestic landmark.

The mountain in this picture is not Denali. It is among the foothills that surround Denali.
