Golden Sands

In the last daylight of May. On the way back from choir. After last week's concert we have five more weeks, just singing for fun! And earlier we went to a matinee at the Lyceum - Glory on Earth, about Mary Queen of Scots. It looked spectacular (wish I'd been there for the photocall, or better still a dress rehearsal) and after a slow start I really got into it. (Maybe it was just the time it took me to get up to speed with the staging.) It felt there was a strong feminist strand to it all - the way this woman was treated by men throughout her life, the strongly-held religious views that restricted her freedom of action, as a young woman in a man's world. Interesting parallels with the present day.
