Sometimes least is more
That was bad , but this is a least sandpiper. I know, why is it different from the sanderling a few days ago. You may have to trust me on this one: it was smaller and the plumage is slightly different. I would have thought sanderling if they weren't standing next to each other. The extra is a least tern family-not the blip of the day because it is sightly out of focus- but you can see the two NESTING mommas on the ground and the dads chasing each other through the skies. The nests are so close the dad from one gets all bent out of shape when the second dad shows up . And then there is a mad chase.
And if you are sick of shore birds : for your delight there is a blue grosbeak in the extras also.
