Ferry Across The Avon
Not quite the same ring as 'Ferry Across the Mersey', but it will have to do for purposes of accuracy. I spotted the ferry coming into land on this side of the river whilst we were walking home from coffee this afternoon. The tourist was so striking and the pose with the ferryman chatting to him was irresistible blip material.
The Avon chain ferry at Stratford, which is hand cranked, has been running since 1937 and is apparently the last of its kind in Britain. It is very popular in the summer saving passengers the walk down to Clopton Bridge to get across the river. On this side of the river it disembarks at the Dirty Duck pub, very handy.
This morning was taken up doing two lots of shopping at Morrison's, our usual weekly shop, plus a separate trolley for Tom, stocking up for Uni living from Saturday. Not that he need worry too much, there is a 24hour Asda five minutes' walk from the Halls of Residence.
Just for a change I have left the photo almost 'au naturel', just adding a little HDR for effect.
