Contemplating

It's late, it's a breezy, balmy spring evening. It's balcony weather. The perfect place to contemplate.

Contemplating my last day of work tomorrow; three years and nine months after I started. I remember thinking at the time - give it a month, you can leave if it's too difficult. And today I was told I'd be missed. A recently absent colleague found out I was leaving and they were his words. I was very touched. You'll be missed by many. We must catch up before you go. It's overwhelming for I'm rather sensitive.

Contemplating my two to three weeks before I leave and what I'll do. I'm still waiting on one document before I can apply for my visa. I'm off to Aswan for four days, ill see friends as much as I can, I'll do some exams marking, maybe have a beach break.

Contemplating being told I'm loved but it won't work for two major reasons - distance and religion.

Just a day to reflect on how different life is in the Middle East; complicated, uplifting, friendly, emotional as I was told.

I'll enjoy the peace and space on my balcony for a while yet.

The view is across rooftops and down into the street.
