The Blue Postbox
Heading back from Manchester I remembered that I had letters to post, so pulled over to do just that. Our postal votes are now on their way.
No other photos all day, so this is a bit of an EB. But ..........
I investigated why this postbox is blue - it's shade has recently changed, and it is now a more vivid colour. It turns out that this George V box (annoyingly the GR is just out of shot here) was painted blue in 1983 to commemorate the association between the Post Office and aviation. Prior to 1939 letters to be sent via air mail had to be posted in special blue boxes, after the war any box could be used.
There is one other blue post box in the UK, at Windsor. I guess it is painted Royal Blue.
