Roses through my prison window

Not of course that I am in prison.

But my hayfever is bad and sometimes one just feels a little fed up with it all. Six weeks of every bloody year. The whooziness of antihistamines, that dripping nagging nose, the heavy chest, the eyes itching, my God the eyes.

I went into a pharmacy in Le Caldine for something for my eyes and I got these little one-shot phials. Sometimes heaven is another country and sometimes heaven is your own.

Still I am saved the UK's wall-to-wall election news cycle. But sad to miss Whitsun which can be such a sweet and hopeful holiday.

Last night fireflies were doing their thing. So surprising and yet so familiar when you see them.

Andrea's Blue Tit fledgling is feeding itself and soon will fly. We watch the young blackbirds chasing their parents round the lawn.

The photo is given that soft focus feel by being taken through mosquito netting that has gathered a layer of wind-blown poplar 'fur'.
