Winter around the corner

There's an old German saying : Making firewood warms 3 times - cutting down the tree, splitting/chopping/storing & finally from the fire. This old beech in a corner of the garden had fallen a victim to it's neighboring 25 meter high fir tree and as our firewood store is fairly low it had to be felled. It only has 20% moisture & is one of the best heating woods, so it will no doubt be used this winter.
