York Station
A visit to York today to drop eldest son Dtephen at the station after a brief visit north. Normally we would be competing in the York City Orienteering race but today it was too much to fit in. Instead we had lunch in York before saying farewell to Stephen.
We parked in Marygate car park which turned out to be close to the start of the Orienteering. We bumped into the planner Steve who enjoys planning difficult courses requiring careful reading of the map. Apparently some competitors were struggling with ensuring they were on the right side of walls without a long diversion to find a gate or route round. Sorry that we could not enjoy the challenge.
We then turned a corner and met friend and fellow Blippers Wendy who was racing downhill to a riverside control.
Had a delightful light lunch with Stephen in a cafe opposite the Assembly Rooms. The tea was excellent as were the sandwiches and Stephen's Langoustine Risotto. Then on to the station where information was showing no availability of seats! Fortunately he managed to get a seat and we wandered back to the car. As we left spotted this artist and couldn't resist taking this shot.
