Arctic Terns
My favorite bird.
The species is strongly migratory, seeing two summers each year as it migrates along a convoluted route from its northern breeding grounds to the Antarctic coast and back again. Recent studies have shown average annual migrations of about 90,000 km (56,000 mi). These are by far the longest migrations known in the animal kingdom.
I love to see them returning to Orkney.
A busy day has left me & Gorgeous pleasantly cream crackered and the dogs completely broken.
