Ullswater wanderings

We had a family thing arranged for today, but sadly a call first thing cancelled due to illness - so an unexpectedly free bank holiday day.
With the weather lovely but a lot cooler pooch had visibly more energy - so we set off towards Ullswater with only the vaguest of plans. I was tempted to wander the Eamont as I'd like to paddle it, but on parking a sign informing me I'd need a permit to paddle anyway dampened our enthusiasm so we headed to the lake. Usually we-d walk the East side to avoid the road, but Mrs IttH wanted to see where I've been paddling - so we squeezed into Glencoyne Bay and walked into Glenridding. A lovely amble on a well made path - and lots of swimming (well wading) opportunities for pooch. Pushka was exhausted by the time we walked back, so enjoyed a lazy afternoon whilst we did "just an hour" in the garden. Obviously it became three hours followed by a very rare (for us/Cumbria) BBQ - so we're now as tired as P!
