Water Babies

I had a wander down to the river this afternoon. My wildlife expectations were not high - wrong time of day, but I did see plenty of Grey Wagtails, a couple of Nuthatch fledglings, and quite a few nest boxes all occupied by Blue Tits. No Dippers again today. Where have they all gone? A fleeting glance of a Kingfisher disappearing upstream.  The Mallard ducklings, of which there were about a dozen, followed me upstream, before settling down with mum on a a small island for an afternoon nap.
