Jugaad

Jugaad is a word that exists in the Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu languages, albeit with some variations in spelling but means the same thing. It is to come up with low cost innovative solutions or creations that often rely on repurposing or recycling materials and castoffs which would otherwise become waste.

In India long before it became fashionable or 'ethically responsible' to recycle it has been necessary to extend, re-use/design and recycle almost everything that isn't perishable and what in many developed countries has and continues to end up on massive scrapheaps.

This vehicle has been put together to make a street cart by a vendor with, among other things, the handlebars of a motor scooter, wooden pallets, a platform, milk crates and a the front of a bicycle frame and its tyres.
