Back In The USSR
First and only full day in Kazan was split between doing touristy things and checking out a, local pub or two.
The weather on the while was none too clever, what with dodging rain showers and a mostly overcast sky. The sun did come out once, when w had a coffee. So we saw the Kremlin, the fancy mosque and the bronze cat, but the highlight was the Museum Of Soviet Life. A strange collection of artefacts from Soviet times, ostensibly up to the seventies, but there was plenty from later on. Some of it you could pick up and hold, others were locked in cabinets. Lots of rock memorabilia, although a good chunk was signed cheap acoustic guitars by bands such as Uriah Heep, Nazareth, Sting, Rainbow, Scorpions etc. Sadly, however hard I looked, I could find nothing with a hint of Slade.
We spent a good 45 minutes here, and this doll was one off the weirder things we saw.
