Sayonara, Samurai-kun

Big changes coming soon. Next month our student exchange programme guest will arrive from Spokane and stay with us for six weeks. In September, Valerie will stay with her family for six weeks. So, before our guest arrives, we need to make some big changes for her. This afternoon, Kazuko and I bought a new cupboard for the kitchen and a new chest of drawers for the living room. New tatami will be laid and a new ceiling fitted in our living room in two weeks time, and the second bedroom will be completely redecorated with new wallpaper and ceiling paper on the same day.

So how does this relate to the samurai doll. Well, Arthur is getting a bit old for this now so this is the last year we will display it for Children's Day. No recycle shops want to buy it, though, and it seems a dreadful waste to just chuck it, so I am hoping that my school will accept it as a donation. We have a set of hina dolls which we display at school in February every year, so it would be nice to be able to display this during April.
