37,000 Flags

To celebrate Memorial Day, 37,000 American flags have been planted on Boston Common in honour of the many (too many) men and women who have sacrificed their lives in service to their country.  It's a very sobering sight, and one that is very moving.  An appropriate reminder that there's a whole lot more to the holiday than just celebrating the kickoff to the summer season.
