A Little Bit Warm...

It was today ;-)

I wore my winter garb prison uniform to school today. Partly because I didn't have time to go home and dig out my summer stuff, partly because I knew we would be sat in the sun this arvo and this would keep me from burning....

I had a chat with a friend at work today. Despite spending 6 hours a day every day together in the same room, we never get to really catch up. I was feeling a bit blue. It has crept in the last few days.

We had Mass this afternoon. It was very long, and the poor children cooked in the sun. I played the redhead card, something I never do, and sat a few feet away under the shade of the tree. I hate sun cream and just try never to sit in the direct sun for very long, so there was no way I was going to do that for over an hour. As it turned out, there were a few children who felt unwell or too hot, and they kept me company :-)

In the evening I went out for a third date with a guy. We only met two weeks ago come to think of it. It was good to see him, and the conversation felt easier than before in someways. We walked along Southbank and joined the throngs of people outside the pubs making the most of the weather. We stood by the river and watched the sun go down. In lots of ways it felt quite easy, but in someways the conversation felt a bit of an effort. The usual fillers such as weather and travel etc. It's hard to know. I really liked him, and I think he really liked me. But I found myself almost looking for reasons not to bother I guess. I was also more honest with him in some ways, as there's no point pretending to be something or someone you're not. A says that as soon as it looks like it could go well, I unconsciously try and sabotage it. I don't know. It's certainly not a conscious effort.

We walked over to Borough Market and found a nice little pub in the corner. He thought I wouldn't like it because in his words, "it's a man's pub", but it was really nice. We had a drink there. It was nearly 10pm, which normally I would have said was quite early. He wanted to go for another drink, but I was tired and then I felt a bit lame when I wanted to start walking back.

It was a very long walk back, but very pleasant. Cool in the wind though. I clocked up 14,000 steps according to my FitBit!

I was on the train and home before midnight, but I am getting much worse when it comes to dozing on the train. It's getting harder and harder to make sure I don't fall truly asleep!

At least it's half-term from today :-)
