Returned to Ocean Village today to enjoy a coffee with friends at the Royal Southampton Yacht Club, most appropriately on the first day of Southampton Sailing Week.
The Club is supporting the action packed six days of sailing which is intended to celebrate everything that is yachting, sailing and boating in Southampton and Solent waters.
My visit was purely social to meet up with friends who form the current Executive of the Club, most of whom I had not seen since January prior to my enforced spell as a guest of Southampton University Hospitals.
I was humbled hearing that the committee, in effect the directors of the Club, had seen fit to often ask about my wellbeing during the time I was in the hospital, and subsequently in a three month recovery period.
Coffee was good; I resisted the temptation for something stronger and time for that later.
In the meantime, it is good to be back, especially as Southampton’s celebration of its location and all things sailing gets under way to encourage more people to enjoy the water.
