Waiting for the Sun

After a coffee and posh clothes shopping it was sadly time to bid farewell to Santa Monica. So off we did head up the Pacific Coast Highway. Firstly the drive through the miles of Malibu, hugging the coast, before we took a detour down to look at the boats at Oxnard, aka Hollywood-by-the-sea. We then headed on through Ventura to Santa Barbara. And what a lovely place it is, though perhaps too many cutesy shops, and like a lot of places, frankly too many people with mental health issues wandering about and raving to themselves. You do wonder what support is available to these people - as some are in a pretty distressed state.
Anyway, we're staying a stone's throw from the beach and there's a heated pool and jacuzzi - we're clearly pushing the boat out. And at 5pm they do cheese and wine - just help yourself. I suppose you shouldn't take advantage of that and think that if you pack enough in you won't be needing an evening meal, but old habits and all that...
