Liberty Bell, Philadelphia
Final day of our holiday! Had a great time but ready to go home now.
Matt drove us into Philadelphia....bit like driving into London, a few interesting moments but we got parked and headed into the Historic part of the City. Philly was not on our original itinerary but as things worked out we were able to fit it in and it was well worth it. It is a really vibrant and interesting city.
We came across Reading Terminal Market which was a huge ex - railway terminus which is not a giant food market, fab place and we returned there for lunch.
We queued or 'stood in line' to see the Liberty Bell. Humbling to see it and learn about all it stands for. Matthew chatted to the ranger about the bell and about its history.
We then had a 3 hour journey to JFK to drop the hire car back and overnight at the Holiday Inn near the airport.
We had spaghetti with tomato sauce and beer delivered to the hotel and sat in the dining area to eat.
We have driven about 1300 miles in the last 10 days, the car was great, Kia Sorrento, didn't like the fact it was auto but they all are here. Petrol still sold in gallons and $2.50 per gallon!!!
