Heatwave

Enjoyed meeting my friend/colleague this morning at Newcastle Central Station. I treated myself to a coffee and pain au chocolat and watched the world go by as I waited for her train to arrive. In the shadow of St Mary's Cathedral, a young man was playing beautiful tunes on the station's piano and men and women of all ages, races and faiths were coming and going. Amongst them was a group of heavily armed police officers, perhaps heading back to the nearby police headquarters...a sign of the times!

Once my friend's train pulled in, we made our way to the Newcastle/Gateshead Hilton for a lovely spa and massage. The extra shows the view of the Tyne bridge from the hotel.
