Hitchcock's Half Hour

The Birds!

We have a corvid roost over the back - rooks, crows and jackdaws roosting together. Each night as it goes dark (tonight it was 8pm) they kick up an enormous (and very eery) racket as they settle down for the night. Not exactly the glamorous mumurations of the starlings - more a random, frantic, mobbing. Spooky! Then the tawnies start hooting, and the toads start croaking and the bats flit around .... and it's very dark!
and it is amazing to stand and listen to the noise as it gradually lessens and then your ears hurt as they strain to pick up the slightest noise...
