To Bloom Or Not To Bloom

I'm going to enjoy these Golden Torch cactus pre-'splosion flowers while they are here because I'm not sure they will actually come to full bloom.  I've had some cactus flowers get close only to dry up before being able to mature.  One did bloom (shriveled on the right) and there is one fuzzy bud still forming.  There are some early buds on a different cactus, too, so there's hope.

I spent a couple of hours with my friends from my former Democratic club at out monthly gabfest.  It's so nice to have people to talk to,  if only every fourth Tuesday.

I spent time with mom, too.  She's super lonely. Her friends have abandoned her.  We have an appointment on Friday to check out a local Adult Day Services program.  I think the socialization opportunities it would provide are just what she needs.  They provide transportation, too. Hopefully, she'll qualify for financial assistance from the County Office on Aging, which would really help make this come to fruition.  I'm really hopeful that it will work out.
