What does the future hold

for plants in our country belonging to the Myrtle family?   Myrtle Rust is a highly destructive fungal disease and has now been identified at five locations in three regions of the country this month.  Spores of the rust are thought to have been blown across the Tasman Sea from Australia where it has become established on the East Coast.  Wonderful natives such as the  Pohutukawa, Manuka and Kanuka as well as the Feijoa (today's blip -  not a native) are all members of the Myrtle family.  We can but wait and see.  Love feijoas and can't imagine autumn without them.
A cold day with very low cloud and now the rain has set in - really quite miserable.
