Thinking of Manchester
I woke up this morning as many people did, to the terrible news of the terror attack at the MEN Arena. I've been to that arena many times when we used to live in Cheshire so it feels very close to home. When Rach was a teenager, we dropped her off to concerts and would pick her up, and can't imagine what it would be like to be in that situation. Friends of Rachel's were there last night with their children, but fortunately everyone is safe as far as I'm aware. There are no words!
Then this afternoon I heard that Roger Moore has died after a short battle with cancer.
As for me, I had an appointment with the doctor for the results of my blood tests and chest x-ray. The blood tests were all clear, however something had shown up on the x-ray. She said the hospital aren't concerned about it, and if it had shown an infection, they would repeat the x-ray in 6 weeks time, or if it was something worse, they would have arranged a CT scan, but in my case they're doing neither. She said she isn't happy to ignore it though and in light of my recent history, she's sending me to have the x-ray repeated in 6 weeks. She's also writing to my oncologist asking him to refer me for a CT Scan on my private medical insurance. She said she's probably over-reacting, but I'm glad she is!
Anyway, I telephoned my oncologist's wife Beccy who's also his secretary, and told her that there's a letter on the way to him and explained what it was about. She said she would speak to him and they will arrange an appointment for the scan at the Nuffield later this week, and then I'll see David to discuss the results.
Looking at the x-ray form the doctor gave me, it's a 'flattening' of the lung, and is more than likely as a result of the radiotherapy. I'm not worried that it's anything more sinister, but am glad it's getting investigated as I do get out of breath if I walk uphill or up stairs.
This is the only photograph I've taken today, and is for all those that were sadly lost - RIP x
