Gatlinburg, Tennessee ....
Today was simply lovely.
Today we had a family split day with each of us doing different things.
Richard, Mom, Nancy (sister) and I headed off to find some wildlife ... red squirrels to be specific. Beverly (sister), Harvey (BIL), Caroline (niece) and Darby (a friend of theirs that arrived yesterday) went off to check out an Arts & Crafts site that we were told about by a welcome center guide. We all ended up in Gatlinburg .... although we didn't realize that until later in the evening.
While our little group was in Gatlinburg we toured the streets and then went and saw some of the forest fire damaged areas from last year. What an incredibly sad sight ... but there was also a lot of reconstruction that was hopeful.
We left Gatlinburg and headed back to our condo. R and I wanted to check out a birding park that he had read about and my Mom and sister didn't want to go! After dropping them off we headed out for a BBQ supper and then on to Seven Islands State Birding Park.
The birding park was lovely and we saw a lot of beautiful birds ... including an Indigo Bunting, Bluebirds, a hawk and a fledgling Chickadee being fed. My extra is of a house that was at the park. It had no windows or doors and looks like it serves as a nice resting place and a great place to stop in the case of rain.
