Not quite Cannes . . .
. . . but not far off. We went today to one of our favourite places - Cassis. On the coast not far from Marseille, it is a small port tucked into limestone hills. Once an important fishing centre, it is now a popular holiday resort, known for its excellent seafood.
Most spectacular are the Calanques, fjord-like inlets lying between vertical white cliffs. We went on a boat trip, one we have been on several times before, and this was a photo taken as we approached one of the Calanques. They are probably best seen from above, but this gives an idea of how impressive they are.
Gordon fell in love with this place the first time we came a number of years ago now. He planned there and then to buy an apartment and never leave. Didn't happen! Perhaps it had something to do with the price of property; I'm not quite sure!
