Walking Wombat

What a difference a day makes!

Hard to believe its the same rock that I photographed on the 13th of May for my blip.   Today was a HUGE day at Wombat Hollow.  It's the day that Michael and Ben arrived at 7.30am to start the task of restoring our walk to Wombat Rock.  (SEE EXTRA) It's just over 650 metres from the house to Wombat Rock and it took about 6 hours for Ben to weave his magic with the Bobcat.  The result is simply spectacular.  We now have a two metre wide track all the way from the bottom of the steps near the bird baths right out to within 30 metres of the lookout.  I had the task of clearing the last 30 metres with a rake hoe and trust me it was a tough gig.  My only regret is that I didn't take a before shot of the track, but as you will see, it's now ready and waiting for all comers.

We are both absolutely delighted with the result and I'm happy to say that we can now safely walk our blip buddies out to the spectacular lookout quite safely.  We intend to do the walk on a very regular basis so that we can keep it well maintained and safe for all that visit this beautiful part of the world.  We both love sharing Wombat Hollow with our friends and this has just been one of the most positive steps we could have taken to breath new life into these two resident wombats.

Oh, I should have mentioned.  That's Michael standing on the rock this morning.  As you will see we were in a total white out.  A very different view to the scene that greeted me just over a week ago.
