Bridge over Troubled Water
We walked along the banks of the Tees today past huge giant hogweed plants. I'm not sure whether they would be classed as bushes or herbs or in some other category. What I do know is that in the summer they are easily 4 to 5 metres tall and without doubt are the dominant feature between willow trees and hawthorn. Interspersed with not insignificant thistles, rosebay willow herb and enormous nettles they look particularly threatening and are too close to the path for comfort in my opinion. The dogs are always on a very short lead on this part of the walk. They of course remind me of another Genesis track, Return of the Giant Hogweed.
