Feeding Time

Hubby was working in the yard today, making a start on preparing the patio for tiling. This involved his favourite pastime (not!) of drilling into bits of concrete and rock. The Rotschwanz (Redstart) family are on a ledge in the patio and were keen on feeding their brood of 5. The parents would stay away when Hubby was by the patio, hopping around the front of the yard with their beaks full waiting for a chance to make a break for the nest. Hubby would walk away for a few minutes while they made a beeline for the nest before taking off again to look for more food. A couple of times I was about to go outside and Hubby would tell me to wait - we wouldn't want the poor little babies to starve. Here is Dad about to pop something into one of the mouths. I don't know how they keep track of which one has been fed.
