New York

We spent the night in Croton, at friends'. They took us to see the dam (extra) - the second man-made stone structure (after the pyramids) before dropping us at the station where we got a train for Grand Central Station. We then spent some time in New York public library. It was extremely hot and we thought that being on the water would make it more bearable so we took a boat tour round Manhattan. So far, I think I still prefer Chicago to New York, but it is early days..
