Good Times for Happy People

A year ago today I arrived home to Shetland to live, after 27 years in Edinburgh. I left behind amazing friends, a workplace of 17 years, my own (admittedly crappy) flat. I had no job for the first few weeks, and huge doubts about whether I was doing the right thing. A year on, and I have pretty much the perfect job, working with really great people. I have some wonderful new friends, and have been able to travel south several times to visit my old ones. I'm more a part of my family than I've been for a long time, and that family now includes Lucy, my sweetheart of a cockapoo. I spend less time in the cinema and the pub, but more time outside. I love the land and the sea and the sky, the teeming wildflowers in the summer, the rabbits, seals, otters, orcas, hares and countless birds. Since the day I arrived I've been overwhelmed by how kind, generous and welcoming everyone has been, not just people who already knew me but strangers too, delighted by the fact that I've 'come home'. And that is what I've done; I am home, and very happy to be here. (Phew!)

I was taking photos at a brilliant sold out big top show by Let's Circus tonight (the title of this blip is their tagline). These gold lycra-clad legs belong to someone I've blipped before.
