Now the day is over
..but this shot was taken at the start, when mist was hanging heavy in the valleys.
I had my second day of refresher training in TEFL/TESOL in Cheltenham. As well as learning how to write my CV ( I am hopeless at this) and finding out that ESOL is taught in prisons, I also helped out in a chat group. The far Eastern girls giggled hopelessly when I mistook the word 'flexible' for 'vegetable'! Who says pronunciation isn't important? More laughter ensued when we discussed whether you'd have to wear a uniform to work at Amazon.
'Amazon? The rainforest?'
'No, the online shopping company...'
I'd forgotten what a laugh teaching can be.
Couldn't get to Gloucester for climbing, as rush hour had already started. Would have taken too long. Went back to Stroud instead, where a proper
film crew was shooting in the High Street and surrounding areas. Dropped off my stuff, fed Bomble, and went out again to the community cafe, where it was quiz night.
We raised enough money to fund the building of one and a half clean toilets in a developing country. These will be 'twinned' with the cafe's loos. Might I mention that our team, Highfield Road, won the quiz? I think a little bragging is in order. There were three of us from H.Road, are all regulars at the cafe, even though it's on the opposite side of town.
I'm incredibly glad that the busier part of the week is over. Time to rest, or maybe rewrite my CV?
