Sarakina Gorge & Myrtos
Our male receptionist, Chronis, is an avid walker like us and advised us to do his favourite Gorge Walk of Sarakina Gorge situated near Myrtos. On the way we collected our friends from Elounda and followed the Sat Nav GPS co-ordinates to the car park and start.
Starting at the same time were a German couple, and a couple from Kent (turned out to be a retired Police Officer like myself). Meeting them proved to be helpful as it was a struggle in places for the women and we assisted each other. The walk was indeed pretty and enjoyable. You can read the exellent article and see pics via the link above.
Afterwards, I drove to Myrtos where we had lunch and a wander around the lovely beach village of Myrtos. As I was taking a photo of a lovely window box a swallow flew past just as I clicked. If you know how difficult they are to catch in flight it's a photo you'd treasure!
