Almost there
The workmen returned first thing this morning to erect the studio. Overnight it had rained but they were not worried by that. It was such a hot sticky morning with the threat of more rain so they cracked on with assembling the building completing the job in a couple of hours. It was a bit of a struggle for them to get the roof on.
As expected there was a last minute hitch as I noticed that they were about to hang the door with the hinges to the right. We had specified a left hanging door which had not made it to their instructions. We're not sure if left or right will be best so when we've made up our mind, they will come back and complete hanging the door.
Next task is to paint it; Pond Green for most of the building with the window frames picked out in Cornish Cream. Hopefully, this will help the building retreat into the background as at the moment it seems rather large! When it's all painted outside then the interior fitting out can take place.
To celebrate the eventual arrival of the studio we walked into town for a coffee and a few chores and to buy a birthday cake for Susan's birthday tomorrow. She had her tastebuds set on a Victoria Sponge; unfortunately, M&S had run out so she settled for a Coffe and Walnut cake instead.
In the evening we went our separate ways; Susan to guitar me to the Folk Club. I had been practising a couple of songs for tonight which I managed to get through. Let's just leave it at that.
The heavy rain that we avoided during the day hit with a vengeance in the evening. After the drought, it will now not know when to stop raining.
