Flower or fruit?

I'm not sure what you call this plant, Graham thought it was known as a strawberry tree but having looked it up I have learnt that it isn't. Anyway it is rather pretty and resembles fruit though in fact it is a flower. I faffed around with picturesque software to get a more painterly effect in the extra. I need to get out more so all my pics aren't flowers, but another busy day so not much time to venture farther afield than the garden for a photo.
