National Champions

Kalyn and her team had to leave Edmonton right after the final game of the national volleyball championships to make the flight home, so they missed the medal ceremony and the presentation of the banner and gold medals.  At their practice a few days ago, the coach on the left set up this photo and a parent took it.  So great to see the girls and coaches with those happy smiles!  Even though the photo wasn't taken today or by me, I can't resist posting it.
I wrote a bit about their win over the Ontario provincial champions on my May 8th blip.  
Kalyn injured the first knuckle of her right hand early in the tournament but just taped it and played well anyway.  No way she wasn't going to play!  She went to have it X-rayed yesterday and is waiting to hear if it's fractured.  Hope not!  
Extra:  Kalyn's boyfriend Markus sent us a photo of the medal he and his baseball teammates got after winning their regional championships last weekend.  They move on to the districts now.  Go team!  He's on a baseball scholarship in the US.  The only downside to the team winning is that Markus won't be home for at least another week - and he and Kalyn can't wait to see each other.  :).
