Roundpole fence
Yesterday and today we have been building sheep fence in the grounds of a nearby refugee center, with some volunteers (mostly) from the refugee center. Yesterday we built common sheep fence with metal netting, but today we built some traditional roundpole fence.
Only unprocessed wood is used as material in the building of a roundpole fence. Narrow strips of fresh wood is used for binding the poles together and, instead of chemicals, rotting of the wood is prevented by burning the ends of the poles that go to the ground.
It's been great to participate and learn about the making of the fence, even though my dexterity leaves a lot to be desired. Today we also had some delicous bread made by the refugees. Also, the weather was nice and sunny and a lot warmer than yesterday. Nice.
