Cascades

This morning we followed the advice of the young pierced woman who was camped nearby. She had come over to borrow a few slices of bacon to wrap around sausages and cheese for some kind of campfire treat, and told us about a hike to a set of mini-waterfalls beyond the meadow. A hike that we had never seen in the guidebooks in all the many years we've been camping up here. And what a stunning hike it was! One cascade after another, huge pools of dark still water followed by more exhilarating tumbling and roaring. Although we only had time for a short hike, it was a perfect end to our stay in Tuolomne. Next year we will pack our lunch and plan to spend the day exploring this new part of the park.
