Wanderings & Witterings

Berwick Law

Friends and I have been walking parts of the John Muir Way - a few miles at a time and in no particular order - for over two years now. One day we'll have completed it, but we've still a few stretches of it to go.

It is, however, one of these situations where the journey is more important than the destination as we enjoy each others' company and it's always good to catch up - whether that's over a coffee at the start, during the walk itself or over a beer and something to eat at our destination for the day. I'm really surprised the world hasn't been put to rights by now, as we've certainly given it a good go!

Saturday's leg was from North Berwick to East Linton. We met at Edinburgh Waverley station and took the train out to North Berwick. As it was overcast and drizzly, we decided that coffee and scones were the order of the day and so didn't actually start walking until about 2.15pm.

Thankfully, it cleared up and stayed dry for the rest of the afternoon - the photo is of Berwick Law (which we didn't climb) taken near East Linton and the end our walk. A pint or two (well, it must be done!) then the bus back to North Berwick and a bar supper (did someone mention pints?) before a couple of trains and a taxi home. We're already planning our next outing, once we can find a Saturday when we're all free - which is easier said than done!
