Black Country

This view of anchor chain links, a product of the Black Country, gave me two trains of thought.

Firstly I thought about the people who lived through the industrial revolution which in the Black County was the coming together of raw materials, ore, coal and limestone to make iron and the skills of the metal workers which grew from that. They lived in amongst the pollution of the furnaces in houses with little protection from the elements.

Secondly the links reminded me that we all benefit from the ingenuity of those engineers in the things we use everyday which make our lives so easy.
